Keep up to date with our latest news and events

April 27, 2020

Hi there to all my flowery friends.

I hope that you are all keeping well and safe. We are now 5 weeks into “Lock Down” and there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight. We are approaching another Bank Holiday, with no traffic jams, so that’s got to be a bonus. Spring has definitely sprung in my garden, and hasn’t the weather over the last few weeks been glorious. I bet you’ve all got the tidiest gardens ever! I am just waiting for Solihull Council to recommence their green bin collections, then I can get out there and do some serious chopping.

We are taking our daily exercise, walking the highways and byways around our estate. We have lived in this house for 30 years but had no knowledge of all the parks and open spaces. We found a beautiful Bluebell wood the other day, and the perfume was fabulous. Unfortunately we ended up in someones back garden, but the owner was a lovely chap, and directed us through his garden gate and onto the right road.

At this time, we are so fortunate to have social media to keep us in touch. We have had a couple of Zoom meetings with family and friends, even one to the US, all which were very lively. We do need some fun in our lives. I watched a demo by one of our area flower arrangers, and a trip around David Rylands garden at Easter, all lift the spirits.

Well I wish you all a Happy May Day, keep well and keep safe, and remember we all have got friends out there, and we’ll see one another soon.

Best wishes

Jan Oldfield (Area President)
